[Class 44] In a garment suspender of button-and-loop type designed to present a flat surface, the flexible tab 4 carries a " button " 9 of such length that, in use, it substantially fills the length of aperture 3 in the rigid loop member 1. As shown, the button is of flat formation with grooved periphery 10 adapted to engage the inner edge of the narrow portion of the loop. To render the tab and button sufficiently flexible to enable its free end to be entered in the wider part of the loop and slid down into the narrower part, it may have a groove or grooves 11, or transverse cuts oblique or normal to the surface of the button, or may be perforated. The upper end of the tab is passed round the crossbar of the loop and its free end, 6, Fig. 14, which may be thickened, inserted in a slot therein. To facilitate bending round the crossbar, the face of the tab may have grooves 7, registering with the edges of the cross-bar. A modified form of button has only lateral grooves 10, the lower end being without transverse groove. Fig. 9 shows a modification in which the upper portion of the button-receiving aperture is formed as a recess by offsetting the metal of member 1 to form a bridge-piece 17 the outer surface of which lies flush with the tab and button portions 4, 15. In all forms the upper part of the button grips the garment material against shoulders 3a formed by the junction of the wider and narrower portions of the aperture in loop 1.
