490,154. Cooling cylinders. DAIMLERBENZ AKT.-GES. May 18, 1937, No. 13822. Convention date, May 16, 1936. Drawings to Specification. [Class 7 (ii)] In engines, in which the cylinders are cooled by a high boiling-point liquid, e.g. ethylene glycol, transference of heat to the crank-case is reduced by the interposition of a heat-insulation layer between the cylinder-block and the crank-case, each cylinder having a dry liner which projects slightly into the crank-case. The heat-insulation layer may comprise a small integral flange on the liner and a paper packing, or a flat annulus of insulating-material, e.g. that known by the Registered Trade Mark " Bakelite," or asbestos. Each liner is screwed at its base into the cylinder-block.
