Abstract
489,674. Knitting-machines. MELLOR, BROMLEY, & CO., Ltd., BROMLEY, T. C., and SHORTLAND, A. Feb. 5, 1937, No. 3462. [Class 74 (ii)] A latch-needle machine, either plain or rib, is provided with means for selecting needles of one bed so that a yarn is laid in front of some of the needles and at the back of the others, and for supplying a second yarn which is knitted by all the needles. The needle-selecting patterning mechanism may be as described in Specifications 329,369, [Class 74 (ii)], and 471,681, and the selection occurs at a point S some distance in front of the clearing point B. The yarn a which is laid in but not knitted is supplied to the throat of the sinkers 8. The sinkers are projected by a cam so that the yarn a is pressed into the hooks of the needles 3, raised by the selecting mechanism, and as shown in Fig. 7, to the back of the needles not so raised. These needles are now raised and all needles proceed to clearing height, subsequently receiving and knitting a yarn b supplied by a second guide 22.
