Abstract
489,007. Cables. FUJIKURA ELECTRIC CABLE WORKS, Ltd., and MAKI, M. Jan. 18, 1937, No. 1453. [Class 36] An air-space cable comprises a conductor 1 held centrally within a single helically coiled wire or strip 2 by means of radial tie strings 3 formed by one or more continuous lengths of insulating material wound round the conductor 1 and helix 2 in different radial directions, there being at least three tie strings in each pitch length of the helix ; an external conductor 4 is disposed over the helix with or without intermediate insulation. The helix 2 may be of stranded, corrugated or insulated wire or of insulating material, e.g. celluloid. The strings 3 may be formed of a thread or bundle of insulating fibres such as cotton, hemp, paper, silk, or cellulose and may be impregnated. The outer conductor 4, which may be formed of braided or stranded wires, may be covered with insulation 5 and a lead sheath 7 or the conductor 4 may consist of a lead sheath.
