[Class 116] Aerated beverages such as beer, aerated milk, and soda water, are dispensed by the gas resulting from the evaporation of solid carbon dioxide, two chambers being provided, one for the solid carbon dioxide and the other for the evolved gas, with means for shutting off the gas chamber when it is required to recharge the first chamber with solid carbon dioxide. The solid carbon dioxide may be placed in a perforated box 29 clamped within a cylinder 25 by a yoke 36 and screw handle 35, the gas resulting from evaporation passing by way of a shut-off valve 44 and branch piece 47 to three other cylinders 24 constituting a reservoir for the gas. The gas discharges from this reservoir by way of a conduit 38, and regulating or reducing valve 39 controlled or set by a handle 42, to a conduit 41 leading to an annular chamber in a fitting 11 supporting a draw-off pipe 17 which passes to a point near the bottom of a beer &c. container 10, the gas escaping from the annular chamber in the fitting 11 by way of ports 22 so as to exert a dispensing pressure upon the beer in the container. A dispensing valve 51 and spout 50 are provided at the upper end of the pipe 17. A pressuregauge 54 is mounted on one of the cylinders 24, and on the completion of evaporation of the solid carbon dioxide, the valve 44 is closed prior to removing the box 29 and inserting a fresh charge of solid carbon dioxide. The valve 44 may be a non-return ball valve. The box 29 may be carried by a rod secured to the cap 32 of the cylinder 25.
