[Class 7 (iii)] In a pressure regulator for a floatless carburetter of the anterior throttle type, the regulator comprising air and fuel chambers separated bv a diaphragm controlling the fuel supply valve, the air chamber is connected to an air pump which is either mechanically connected to the throttle valve or is pneumatically operated by the pressure on the engine side of that valve to cause a change in pressure in the air chamber when the throttle is opened or closed and thus increase or decrease temporarily the fuel supply, the change in pressure being neutralized after an appropriate interval by air entering the air chamber through a restricted opening. A pump piston o actuated by the throttle i forces air past a pressure valve r through a pipe s to the dry side of a pressure regulator comprising a diaphragm c and fuel chamber b, the additional pressure displacing the diaphragm to open the fuel inlet valve a and force additional fuel through the nozzle g. A calibrated orifice v in a tube connecting the air chamber t to the air inlet h, regulates the duration of the additional charge. The valve. r may be omitted and the air chamber vent back into the pump, closure of the throttle valve then causing a reduced fuel flow. The suction valve q of the pump may normally be open and close only on the pressure stroke of the piston o. In a modification, a bellows with its interior communicating with the mixing chamber replaces the piston pump and the throttle connections thereof.
