485,763. Furnaces &c. LEWER, J. W. Nov. 24, 1936, No. 32211. [Class 5] (i)] [Also in Group XI] In a stove, boiler, or like heating apparatus in which the air supply is controlled by means responsive to the temperature of what is being heated, the outlet of a fuel delivery member 1 from a solid-fuel reservoir 2 is located just above the ridged, convex or pointed imperforate upper surface of a fuel distributing member 14 at such a distance above an imperforate bottom surface 13 close to the base of the member 14 that the fuel rises from this surface at its natural angle of repose, and air is supplied to the combustion chamber 4 through apertures 15 at the edge of the base of the member 14. In the form shown, a fan 10, controlled by a thermostat 27 in the water flow pipe 21, supplies air to the arched space 16 in the member 14. The member 14, the bottom part 13, and the fuel supply pipe 1 are made with water spaces 17, 18, 22 connected into a byepass water-circuit. In another form the fuel distributing member 14 is conical or pyramidal.
