Abstract

485,501. Flats for eggs &c. RUEGENBERG, G. March 15, 1937, No. 7563. Convention date, March 20, 1936. [Class 18] [Also in Group XVI] Eggs &c. 4, Fig. 1, are packed in cells formed between superposed sheets 1, 2 of paper, each half of a cell being constituted by a spaced enlargement in a trough extending the length of a sheet and forming a ventilating duct open at both ends. The sheets are in contact throughout their length in one direction and are formed with transverse ribs 5, and the cells are staggered so that the contiguous sheets 1, 2 of adjacent layers are in intimate contact. The cells are formed by passing sheets between a pair of rollers one of which is provided with rotatable male moulds and the other with female moulds, and the pitch circle of the roller carrying the male moulds is less than that of the other. To " redress " or close the troughs somewhat, the embossed sheets are passed between rods 20, Fig. 5, on an endless chain 18 and a grill-shaped support 21.
