Abstract
483,341. Garment pockets. HILLIER, J. L. Nov. 10, 1936, Nos. 30611/36 and 1255/37, (the second Provisional Specification being divided out of the first Provisional Specification). [Class 141] [Also n Group XXV] A garment pocket composed preferably of metal mesh is provided with a sliding-clasp fastener 1, 2, the slider of which has attached thereto a cord or like flexible member 8 one end of which passes through an eye 9 in the lining of the garment, and is provided with a tab or the like 10 upon which a pull is exerted to open the pocket, the cord also passing through an eye 13 carried by an elastic loop 15 which acts to move the slider in the pocket closing direction, the other end of the cord 8 being secured to the pocket lining at 14. The sliding-clasp fastener is concealed by a cover strip 5. In a modification, the elastic loop 15 is replaced by a coiled tension spring. In another modification, the pocket is combined with an existing pocket, e.g. it may be interposed between the outer covering of the garment and the existing pocket so as to be accessible from the interior of the latter pocket. According to the first Provisional Specification, the cord is passed over a pulley which is concealed in the garment.
