Abstract

481,894. Thermionic valves. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE. Sept. 18, 1936, No. 25482. Convention date, Sept. 18, 1935. [Class 39 (i)] An electron - permeable anode comprises a plurality of parts between each pair of which a fixed potential difference is maintained and one part of each pair is connected to the anode bias. As shown, an anode A comprises a series of slats interleaved with a series of rods. Electrons penetrating the anode reach a collector P. When the anode voltage is high, electrons are but slightly deflected and reach P ; when it is low they are caught by the slats. The device thus exhibits negative resistance. The bias on the rods may be produced by a battery or by a dropping resistance. In a modification, a parallel resonance circuit is connected in the anode lead, and its full alternating voltage applied, with a negative bias from a battery, to the rods ; the slats receive the full anode bias and a tapping from the resonance circuit. A series of electrodes P, which may be out of phase with the anode A may be used. Valves with Lenard foil anodes are referred to.
