Abstract

481,784. Safety head-wear. TRIGGS, W. W. (Strauss, A. A.) March 25, 1937, No. 8864. [Class 63] Head-wear for miners and the like comprises rigid crown and brim portions 8, 7, respectively, and a frusto-conical or funnel-shaped head band support 5 secured to or adjacent the brim and at its upper edge to the top marginal portion of a head-band 9. Ventilation may be provided by openings 14 in the member 5. In a modification spacing blocks are provided between the base of the member 5 and the under surface of the brim, forming ventilation channels therebetween. In another modification, the 'intermediate member 5 is substituted by a member 20 carried by the lower edge of the crown. The members 5, 7, 8 may be of hard moulded fibre, and the member 9 of buckram or belting. Alternatively, the member 5 may be of stout cloth.
