Abstract
481,689. Frictional igniters. DUNHILL, Ltd., A., and DUNHILL, V. Jan. 30, 1937, No. 2803. [Class 75 (iii)] An oscillating arm 14, actuated by depressing a plunger .5, is provided with a shoulder 26 for engaging a resilient tongue 25 on a spring- pressed slider 18 so as to move the latter until the tongue is retracted by a guide pin 22 from the shoulder whereupon the slider is returned by the spring 20 for actuating the friction-wheel 7 bv means of an extension formed as a pawl 23 co-operating with a ratchet wheel 24. A hinged portion 16 of a removable cover 2 is connected by a link 15 to the arm 14 so as to be simultaneously raised to expose the wick 9. As shown, the hollow plunger 5 carries a removable wicktorch 27 and has a lug 6 guided in a slot in the cylinder 4 for rocking a bell-crank lever 12 to which the arm 14 is pivoted. The hinged lid 16 remains open on releasing the plunger 5 and is closed by hand, the arm 14 being held in the normal position by a, spring 17.
