Abstract

[Class 97 (i)] [Also in Group XI] In film-projection apparatus the projection lamp 6 is bent, for example to a substantially L, S or Z shape and is located so that its filament 17 is substantially symmetrically located with respect to the axis 15 of the projection lens 2 and the lamp holder 12 is displaced from the axis of the filament. As shown the axis 13 of the holder is parallel to the optical axis 15 but it may be located perpendicular or at an angle thereto and the holder may be placed above or below the axis 15. Alternatively the lamp may have an annular glass bulb surrounding the reflector 5 or the bulb may be U-shaped. The film reels may be carried on arms 21, 24 pivoted to the casing and adapted to be swung outwards and fixed when the film is to be fed through the gate 3 over sprockets 7, 8. The resistance 11 of the lamp may be located in a ventilated housing and a cooling fan may be provided.
