481,265. Discharge lamps. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. Aug. 24, 1937, No. 23239. Convention date, Aug. 26, 1936. [Class 39 (i)] A metal - vapour dischargedevice, such as a lamp, is provided with a receptacle for a difficultly volatilizable metal arranged in front of the electrode, so that the discharge passes around them. The. arrangement shown comprises a U-tube 1 having electrodes 2 heated by the discharge and porcelain receptacles 3 supported by -wires 8 in front of the electrodes and having openings 4 on the side remote from the electrodes. In place of separate openings the receptacles may be made wholly or in part of porous material.
