[Class 102 (i)] In a lubricating-pump in which a single cylinder discharges lubricant to a number of points by means of a rotary distributer and the lubricant is trapped between the plunger and a piston discharge valve, the stroke of the latter is varied by means of stops. The invention is shown as applied to the pump described in Specification 459,946. The plunger 30, Fig. 1, reciprocating in a bore in a rotary body 2, discharges the lubricant to pipes carried by the end plate 10, and the stroke of the discharge valve 52 is varied by means of a stop 55, which passes through a slot 101 in a guide 54 secured to the body 2. The stop 55 is integral with a sleeve 53, carrying an arm 58 which comes in contact with studs 59. The latter may alternate with, or be replaced by, ribs on the cap 60, or on a plate attached to the cap. In a modification the stop 55 and sleeve 53 are replaced by a lever, pivoted to the body 2, and engaging the stops 59. The body 2 rotates in a liner 65, and the discharge passages 18 are provided with check valves 70. The inlet pipe 66 communicates with a groove 68 in the body 2. In addition to the pawl for rotating the wheel 43 attached to the body 2, a check pawl 104 is provided, pivoted to an abutment 102 by means of a stud 108, which also serves to prevent endwise movement of the body 2. The vacuum operating-cylinder 8 may be replaced by a compressed-air or hydraulic cylinder, arranged vertically, the motor piston being connected by a link to the pump-operating lever, which passes through a slot in the cylinder wall. Alternatively the pump may be operated by external means, in which case the operating lever 31, Fig. 11, is secured to the spindle 11, which extends to the exterior of the casing 5. The spindle is operated, by hand or otherwise, by means of a lever 111, pivoted on the spindle, and having knife edges 112 which are pressed by a spring 115 into engagement with grooves in a collar 109 on the spindle.
