480,022. Weighing-apparatus. AVERY, Ltd., W. & T., TIMSON, W., and JONES, W. Sept. 16, 1936, No. 25174. [Class 143] Loose-weight apparatus.-In a semi-automatic weighing-apparatus having an automatic weightindicating mechanism and an additional weight for increasing the capacity of the scale, the additional weight co-operates with a toggle link mechanism which normally maintains the weight out of action but is broken automatically to deposit the weight when the normal weighing capacity of the automatic resistance mechanism has been exceeded. The additional weight 5 when in the inoperative position is supported by notched slides 6 maintained in the position shown, by toggle links 8a, 8. When the normal weighing capacity of the automatic resistant mechanism is exceeded the weighing lever 4 moves upwards sufficiently to displace a locking catch from the link 8 and the toggle linkage collapses under the action of gravity thus allowing the slides 6 to descend and deposit the additional weight upon a notched portion 4b of the weighing lever. The mechanism is re-set by rotating a crank handle on the shaft 10 of the link 8. The rotation of the shaft 10 when the toggle linkage is broken causes a flexible cable 15 to change the major weight numerals of the scale chart. Specification 236,117, [Class 143], is referred to.
