480,018. Refrigerating. NORMELLI, W. B. Aug. 15, 1936, No. 22531. [Class 29] Absorption machines and systems.-A reversing machine associated with a domestic cabinet 1, the top of which serves as a draining board, and a water tank 2 heated by the waste heat of the machine and surmounted by a sink 30, comprises an evaporator 15 supplied with refrigerant from a reservoir 11 having a charging valve 13, a condenser coil 8 encircling the tank, and a generator-absorber 4 having a cooling jacket 16 to which a vaporizable liquid is forced by the pressure generated in a liquid vessel 20 having an electric heater 17. The generator-absorber comprises an annular chamber filled with solid absorbent and having a central electric heater 6. The jacket communicates through a pipe 21 with the vessel 20 and also with a condenser 19 in the tank, the condensate from which returns to the vessel. The tank is provided with a supplementary electric heater 25 controlled by a thermostatic switch 26 disposed in a circuit including the heaters of the generatorabsorber and the liquid vessel. In operation, the generator-absorber heater is switched on for, say, one and a half hours after which the liquid vessel heater is operated for six and a half hours, the heater in the water tank being switched on when the temperature of the water falls below a predetermined value.
