Abstract
479,889. Fluid - pressure servomotor - control systems. AKTIEBOLAGET GOTAVERKEN. Dec. 3, 1936, No. 33236. Convention date, Dec. 7, 1935. [Class 135] [Also in Group XXVI] The working-fluid supply to a turbine rotor 21 is regulated by means of guide vanes 3, pivotally supported on pins 4, which are controlled automatically to vary the amount of fluid admitted. A disc 10 has an arm 6 to pivot the vanes 3 as a piston 34 is moved vertically to rock a control shaft 9. A governor 28 has a sliding sleeve 29 which controls the position of a double piston 31 in a servomotor, which admits oil to the under-side of the piston 34 when the turbine slows down due to increased load, and the sleeve 29 drops. Simultaneously the piston 31 brings the space above the piston 34 into communication with an oil outlet. The upward movement of the piston 34 opens the vanes 3 and admits more fluid to the turbine. If the sleeve 29 still continues to fall, the piston 31 approaches its highest position and oil under pressure is admitted below a piston 35 to open an overload valve 15 to admit fluid of a higher pressure than that in the chamber 2, to the turbine, via an inlet 16. The invention is not restricted to a turbine having one bladed rotor. A pressure governor may be used in place of the speed governor 28. A pressure regulator, which adjusts the vanes 3 in dependence of the pressure in the delivery conduit of a pump or compressor driven by the turbine, may be used.
