Abstract
478,144. Valves. SCOVILL MANUFACTURING CO., and WINTER, W. J. July 17, 1936, No. 19900. [Class 135] A "blow gun comprising a manually operated valve combined with a nozzle adapted to give the requisite jet of fluid has the valve arranged to open against the action of a series of compression springs of differing resistances adapted to come into operation successively so that the operator can distinguish by sense of touch when he is about to pass from one stage to another. The valve 8 which cooperates with a rubber seat 10 arranged at the bottom of a recess 2a is actuated by a push actuated plunger 16 slidably mounted in a detachable cage 14 serving to hold the seat 10 in position. Two loading springs are used the stronger one 17a surrounding the weaker one 17 and only coming into operation when the valve member is about to leave the recess.
