Abstract
477,589. Bending strip into profiled sections. METAL TRIM, Ltd., and PENKALA, E. Jan. 26, 1937, No. 2288. [Class 83 (iv)] In passing strip metal through a succession of shaping rolls 2, 3 to make a profiled section, e.g. as described in Specification 477,581, the minimum number of roll passes is used to perform the bending and forming while the positioning and guiding is done by guides 4, 4a &c. located in front of the roll pairs, to engage the section, the rolls having no positioning or guiding shoulders. Each guide is screwadjusted radially on an arm 6 angularly adjustable about 7, over an arc 8b to suit the angle and length of the section 16, while they can be spaced laterally to or from each other by screwing their mountings 8 in or out on a cross piece 9 attached to the main roll stand base. The guide jaws 4 are also longitudinally slidable, Fig. 3 (not shown), and clamped in position by a wedge operated by screw and nut. The base of the section may be supported by a guide roller 10 mounted in an adjustable bracket. Specifications 477,590, 477,591, and 477,692 also are referred to.
