Abstract

477,116. Stereoscopic photography. OKOLICSANYI, F. VON. Dec. 11, 1936, No. 34059. Convention date, Dec. 12, 1935. [Classes 97 (i) and 98 (ii)] To produce stereoscopic photographic or kinematographic pictures a lenticular screen is placed before the film for each exposure, the camera is moved horizontally at right-angles to the optical axis of the lens simultaneously with the motion of a vertical slit across the lens. The width of the slit is such that an image thereof formed on the film by one of the cylindrical lenses is one-tenth of the width of the lens. The picture is developed and is viewed through a lenticular screen when a stereoscopic effect is produced or, if the observer moves relative to the picture, the latter appears to be in motion. For kinematographic pictures, one image frame is exposed for each lateral motion of the camera. The images are projected on to a screen in front of which is a system of glass rods each having a width twenty times that of the projected image of one slit image, the rods being immersed in a liquid having a refractive index slightly different from that of the glass rods.
