Abstract
476,394. Thermionic valves. DODDS, J. M., LUDLOW, J. H., and METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. June 19, 1936, No. 17128. [Class 39 (i)] A grid comprises a massive backbone member of channel shape and a grid mesh secured to the edges of the channel, the arrangement constituting a tube in which the cathode is located. The lead-in to the backbone is also massive and the inductance of the electrode is reduced. As shown, the refractory mesh portion 2 is bent into U-shape and has its ends held in a copper backbone 1. A space-charge electrode 6, as described in Specification 476,395 is interposed between the backbone 1 and the filament 4. The anode may be polyfoil in shape. The backbone may be water-cooled and the valve may be continuously evacuated and operate on television wavelengths. Specifications 389,509 and 414,753 also are referred to.
