[Class 135] [Also in Group XVII] A means for stopping the filling of tanks when a. predetermined and adjustable level has been reached, comprises in the form shown in Fig. 1, a float 4 on an arm 5 pivoted at 6 and carrying a pointer 7 which, when the float rises, contacts a pin 11 which can be placed in any one of a number of holes 10 in a pivoted sector 9 which, through an arm 12 actuates a valve 2 to close the inlet. In the form shown in Fig. 2, a float 4 secured at 13 to an endless chain 12 moves freely upwards as the tank fills until a stop 17 on the shaft 16 of a pulley 15 actuated by the chain contacts a stop 18, when the free movement of the float being thus inhibited, a further rise in the level of the liquid causes the float to lift rod 3 and close inlet valve 2. Adjustment is effected by moving pulley 15 with respect to the chain. In the form shown in Fig. 3, a cylinder 21 is held in the position shown by an adjustable weight 26 through a system of levers 22, 23, 24, movement taking place about a pivot 25. When the upthrust on the cylinder reaches a predetermined value, the cylinder rises and closes the inlet valve 2.
