Abstract
475,597. Cigarette-making or like machines. QUESTER. C., and QUESTER, K., (trading as KOLNER WERKZEUGMASCHINENFABRIK VON W. QUESTER). Aug. 5, 1936, No. 21592. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Feb. 11, 1937.] [Class 130] Cigarettes or the like carried by a high-speed conveyer are braked by a stop which moves into the path of the cigarettes leaving the band, while travelling in the same direction and at the same speed as the cigarettes ; thereafter the speed of the stop in this direction is gradually reduced to zero. In the construction shown, the cigarettes are separated into lines having their mouthpieces in the same direction and are carried by belts 19, 20 towards a collecting band 25. The cigarettes are braked by stops 15, 15<1> mounted on a link 9 connecting a pair of parallel crank devices 6, 8, 6<1>, 8<1> of adjustable crank-radius. To permit operation with cigarettes of different sizes the stops are adjustable, relatively to one another, in directions parallel to and at right-angles to the belts, the distance between which can' be adjusted. To prevent the cigarettes slipping on the belts, rotating rollers or brushes may be provided above the belts, or the cigarettes may be gripped between the belts 19, 20 and additional belts above them.
