Abstract

475,470. Locking switches. CHALLET, E. April 6, 1937, No. 9749. Convention date, April 6, 1936. [Class 38 (v)] The switch controlling the top heater of an oven is interlocked with the switch controlling the bottom heater by means of cams a, c on the two switch spindles and a sliding rod f arranged between. The arrangement is such that when the pointer b of the top switch is moved into the full on position G, the cam a touches the top of the rod f and prevents any movement of the lower switch from its " off " position. Movement of the lower switch into any of its three " on " positions will also raise the rod f and prevent the top switch being moved " full on." The top switch may, however, be moved into positions 1 and 2 in which it is “ and ¢ on respectively. In a modification, Figs. 5-8 (not shown), the cam a has a wider portion corresponding to the " ¢ on " and " full on " positions, so that when the lower switch is moved into any of its " on " positions the upper switch can only be " off " or " “ on."
