475,166. Axle - - structures wheels for vehicles. BOYDELL & CO:, Ltd., E., and BOYDELL, E. May 13, 1936, Nos. 13502 and 21762. [Class 79 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXIV] A driving-axle structure, enabling " Fordson " (Registered Trade Mark) and dumping tractors, such as described in Specification 433,081, to be provided with dual tyred wheels, comprises a casing a upon the ends of which the wheels are mounted on antifriction bearings and within the casing, a divided driving shaft for each wheel, one shaft part i rigidly secured to a wheel hub being connected to the other part k, which carries the differential component, by a slidable coupling sleeve which supports the inner shaft part. The wheel hub g is mounted on conical or other thrust bearings c held against a shoulder f with an oil-retaining ring h by a lock-nut e. The outer shaft part i is secured by its flanged end i<1> to the wheel hub, the hub being formed with a central flange to which may be bolted a twin tyre rim or which may, as shown, be extended to form one rim m whilst a shoulder p thereon forms a seating for the second rim q.
