Abstract
474,316. Coke ovens. SOC. GENERALE DE FOURS A COKE, SYSTEMES LECOCQ, SOC. ANON. Oct. 1, 1936, No. 26690. Convention date, Oct. 22, 1935. [Class 51 (ii)] In a coke oven adapted for lean gas firing having in each heating- wall groups of flues 8, 12 associated with corresponding regenerators, which are subdivided into shaft-like compartments 7, 14, the outermost compartment of each end regenerator group is connected with the gas or air supplies by valve-controlled conduits 23 separate from the conduits 25 supplying the remaining compartments of the group. In the oven shown the gas flow is symmetrical about the median plane of the battery, but in a modification, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), upflow and downflow groups of flues alternate along the length of a heating-wall. Thick partition walls 17 are provided between regenerators operating in opposite phase, and expansion joints occur only in those ovens beneath which air regenerators are situated.
