[Class 120 (i)] In a gill drawing- frame or like machine the device for transferring the faller bars 45. Fig. 15, from one screw to another includes means arranged to engage both of two portions of a faller bar which face in opposite or approximately opposite directions in such manner as to restrain it against undesired movement in the direction in which it is moved by the transfer device. The latter comprises a cam 26 or 29, Figs. 10 and 14, provided with cam lobes so arranged as to receive between them the end of a faller bar and to engage with two portions thereof which face in opposite or approximately opposite directions. The fallers 45 are formed with semicircular ends 46 having opposite faces 47, 48 bevelled to correspond to the pitch of the upper screws 5: The forward faces 49 are slotted at 50 and bevelled on their lower edges 51, and the bars are traversed on saddles 52, 53 and guided during transfer by conductors 60, 61. The traverse screws 5, 6 are formed with triple threads and provided with cam discs 26, 29, Figs. 3 and 4, having respectively three radially extending lobes 81, 71. The lobes 81 are joined by a hub 82 rounded at 86 to correspond to the ends 46 of the fallers 45 and each lobe 81 has leading and trailing faces 84, 85, and is bevelled at 87. The cam lobes 71 are formed with curved grooves 72 forming seats for the ends of the screws 6, an arcuate leading face 73 and a curved trailing face 74 rounded so as to roll on the rounded ends of the faller bars. The outer face is bevelled at 75 to provide clearance for the faller ends 46 and each lobe is cut away at 78 to clear the threads of the screw 5 which are recessed for clearance.
