473,469. Fastenings. REINHARD, G. March 20, 1937, No. 8293. Convention date, March 20, 1936. [Class 44] In a door lock &c. the outer handle 10 can be rendered inoperative by moving a coupling 5 carried by the inner handle 4 out of engagement with the end of a spindle 12 carried by the outer handle. The inner handle is mounted on the stem 3a of a sleeve 1 fixed by screws 2 to the lock barrel 3. The coupling 5 slides inside the sleeve 1 and is urged towards the spindle 12 by a spring and carries a pin 7 which passes through L-shaped slots in the sleeve 1 and is fixed to a sleeve 8 loosely mounted on the sleeve 1. When the sleeve 8 is turned to bring the pin 7 into line with the longitudinal portion of the L-shaped slots in the sleeve 1, the spring 6 moves the coupling 5 into engagement with the spindle 12 and thereby couples the outer handle to the barrel 3 through the sleeve 1.
