Abstract
473,218. Valves. BRINKERS, H. C. Aug. 31, 1936, No. 23807. Convention date, Aug. 30, 1935. [Class 135] A self - closing valve of the kind having an outlet tube and straight tubular nozzle displaceable in a straight tubular valvebody, the said outlet tube constituting the valve spindle and having at its inner end openings for the passage of fluid, the arrangement being such that the valve is opened by pushing on the nozzle, has a sleeve of rubber, leather, lead or soft copper adapted to form a seat for the valve-member and also serve as a leakage preventing packing for the valve spindle. In the form shown in the Figure, the outlet nozzle 3 and tubular valve spindle 4 may be made of artificial resin and moulded in one piece with the push-button 2 or if of metal may be secured together by moulding the button around them. The inner end of the spindle 4 has pear-shaped ports 6 and carries a conical facing 7 adapted to co-operate with the rubber sleeve 5 held against axial displacement by the restricted part of the bodv 1. To restrict the flow as the valve approaches its closed position, a disc 8 on the end of the spindle 4 is adapted to co-operate with a tapered part of the casing. In a modification, this disc is replaced by a perforated piston working in a cylinder screwed into the casing. A spring-pressed pivoted locking catch may be provided adapted to co-operate with a tooth on the push-button. British Specification 320,145, [Class 135], and U.S.A. Specification 1,663,952 are referred to.
