Abstract

472,940. Locks. STERNER, B. Oct. 8, 1936, No. 27292. [Class 44] The lock comprises two cylindrical parts 1, 2, inserted in the edge and side of a door 4 and secured by a wedge 5 which slides in a groove in the cylinder 1, and also engages a groove in the cylinder 2. The wedge may be loose, or attached to the sliding bolt or catch 3 by means of a pin 8 which also supports the bolt spring 9. An extension 12 secured to a cylinder 11 has a projection 17 which enters one or other of the slots 13 in the cylinder 2 to secure or release the bolt. The cylinder 11 and the extension 12 are moved axially against the pressure of a spring 15, by a key inserted in a keyhole 25, after which the part 12 may be rotated by the key. An insert 20 bears on the inner cylinder wall of the cylinder 2, and has grooves 21 to fit the bit projections on the key, which may thus be free to rotate. The insert has a projection 23 to secure it in position in a slot 24.
