Abstract

472,672. Lay figures. LAWRENCE, F. C. March 30, 1936, No. 25201. Divided out of 454,561. [Class 52 (v)] A detachable leg or arm for a lay figure is formed of metal tubing 7 which is flexible at least at the joints 6 and covered with one or more layers 10 of pliable material such as sponge rubber rounded or shaped to conform with the natural shape of the arm or leg, an outer layer of material such as canvas being provided, coated with rubber, rubber solution, paint or varnish to impart to it an appearance simulating the flesh. A plate 12 at the upper end of the arm carries an apertured bar 13 by which the arm is secured to the body of the figure, and a hand may be fitted by a universal joint to a plate 18 at the other end. A headed pin or bolt on. the plate 12 may engage a keyhole slot in a bracket attached to the lay figure. The Provisional Specification describes a form in which the pliable material 10 is replaced by a spiral spring, or an inflated rubber tube.
