Abstract

472,429. Travelling sprinkling - apparatus. ASCH, D. W. VAN. June 11, 1936, No. 16369. Convention date, Jan. 20. [Class 69 (iii)] A travelling sprinkling-apparatus comprises a reaction sprinkler 24, Fig. 1, mounted on a wheeled frame 5, the wheels 6 of which are rotated by the sprinkler through gearing to effect the travel of the frame, and means for automatically cutting off the water supply after a predetermined travel. The means for cutting off the water supply comprises a lever 43, Fig. 4, attached by a string 48 to a part of the hose and engaging by a slot the handle 46 of a spring-actuated cock. The cock with its accessories is mounted on a short tube 39 provided with prongs 37 to engage the ground. The frame 5 is mounted on two traction wheels 6 and an angularly adjustable trailing wheel 14 to permit the sprinkler to travel in a straight line or a circle. A second smaller rotary sprinkler 26 may be mounted above the main sprinkler. In order that the apparatus may be moved easily, a clutch is provided to disconnect the wheels from the driving mechanism.
