Abstract
470,075. Hay collectors &c. WILDER, H. H. Feb. 6, 1936, No. 3703. [Class 6 (iii)] [Also in Group XXX] A crop-collecting device is provided with elevator mechanism comprising a number of sets of spaced tines carried by one or more endless chains or the like, all or some of the sets of tines having associated therewith supplementary rake heads adapted to collect the crop missed by the main tines. The elevator comprises side frame members 4, 5 that support the trough 6 up which the crop is carried to be delivered by a shoot 9 into a trailer 9b. Spaced tine bars 10 carrying tines 11 are secured to two endless chains 12 passing round sprocket wheels 14, 15, 16, the wheels 16 being mounted on a shaft carried by a radius rod 17 and adjustable shockabsorbing means 31, 32. Each set of tines is provided with a supplementary raking device 18 to collect any crop not dealt with by the tines. Each supplementary rake head 18 is supported by a pair of shoes 19, each shoe being hinged at its end to the main rake head and being adapted to ride over the fingers of the finger bar, when the device is used with a mowing machine, and the bottom of the elevator trough. The swinging movement of each shoe is controlled by a stop 19c on a pivoted rod 19d. The elevator may be connected to a mower by a longitudinal beam 46 pivotally supported near its front end in a U-shaped bracket 47 carried by the draught pole bracket 49 of the mower.
