Abstract
466,811. Breech-loading guns. HASEK, J. Dec. 5, 1935, No. 33804. Convention date, Dec. 6, 1934. [Classes 9 (i) and.92 (ii)] Relates to gas checks arranged between the breech-block a and the cartridge and of the kind comprising a bulged disc c which is flattened by the gun gases to press the periphery of the disc against the gun bore. According to the invention, the disc is made of deformable material and is used only once, the disc including an integral housing d for the primer or percussion cap. The disc may be formed with an undercut recess f, Figs. 3 and 4, extending over the whole circumference of the disc which engages on firing with a corresponding recess formed in the face of the breech-block but extending over half the circumference thereof. An additional packing washer g, of which two forms are shown in Fig. 3, may be provided to form a seal before the gun gases act on the disc. When a soft iron disc is employed, a peripheral casing h or j, Fig. 4, of copper, brass, or other softer material may be employed.
