Abstract

465,585. Drying apparatus. EISENWERK WESERHUTTE AKT.-GES., and LOSCHE, H. Aug. 6, 1935, No. 3464/37. Divided out of 465,516 under which a Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, July 30, 1936. [Class 34 (ii)] In apparatus for drying wood a or other material under a loose cover b, comprising a furnace c, a filter f, and a chamber l between the furnace and the filter compartment, furnace gases together with pre-heated air being drawn by a fan e into contact with the wood, the chamber l is provided with an opening at the side to communicate with the furnace and an opening at the top to communicate with the filter. The chamber has a removable receptacle m for collection of flue dust. A heat accumulator, of ceramic material, may be provided in the chamber to enable drying to be carried on after the furnace is extinguished. Dampers o, i<1> are provided to control the supply of drying gases which are distributed beneath the cover b by a member g, or alternatively by a pipe g<1>. Disinfectants , may be introduced into the drying gases. A steam boiler k is provided so that a steam spray applied under the cover is available to control humidity.
