Abstract

An alloy used for a liner or sleeve-valve for an internal-combustion engine cylinder comprises (a) an austenitic steel containing 18 per cent of chromium and 8 per cent of nickel, with or without between 3-5 per cent of manganese, or (b) an austenitic steel containing 0,41 per cent of carbon, 14 per cent of chromium, 14,72 per cent of nickel, 2,07 per cent of tungsten, 0,92 per cent of silicon, and 0,79 per cent of manganese.
