Abstract

464,208. Wood - screws; bolts. WILLIAMS, J. I. Oct. 14, 1935, No. 28262. [Classes 89 (i) and 89 (ii)] A metal or wood screw for fixing splash guards, tiles, and the like comprises a polygonal terminal connected by screw thread to the main screw and a yielding holding device which allows the inner face of the terminal to lie flush with or slightly to overlap the end face of the main screw, thus permitting the terminal to be screwed up tightly and yet finish in the desired angular position. The yielding holding device may comprise a rubber or fibre washer 1 interposed between the terminal 2 and main screw 6, Fig. 1, or it may be formed by providing the terminal with a conical enlargement 9, Fig. 5, coacting with the slotted and tapered or bevelled end 5 of the screw 6. The connecting screw 3, Fig. 1, may be integral with the main screw, as shown, or with the terminal.
