[Class 103 (i)] [Also in Group XXIV] In a centrifugal brake comprising shoes f guided for radial movement on a driving-boss a, the sides of the shoes are formed with wedge-shaped recesses engaged by wedge-shaped flanges g formed on collars c and e, the collar c being integral with the boss a while the collar e is urged towards the collar c by spring-loaded bolts d passing through lugs i on the boss. The shoes are thus prevented from moving into contact with the drum k until a critical speed, determined by the adjustment of the springs, is reached.
