[Class 36] A manifold conduit for housing and screening the ignition leads of internal-combustion engines comprises a plurality of rigid tubular conducting elements, such as 1-3, Fig. 2, formed with one or more outlets 14 for the plug leads 20, connected together by flexible tubular conducting elements 4, so that the conduit may readily be given any desired shape or dimensions. The conduit may be of uniform diameter, or it may taper towards its ends, as shown. Lugs 5 may be provided on some of the rigid elements for securing the conduit to the engine. The elements 3 have branches 13 for receiving a group of leads from the magneto of the engine. The rigid elements, which may have straight or curved axes, are preferably formed at one end with an externally threaded split socket 6 in which the end of the adjacent rigid or flexible element is clamped by a nut 7, the other end of the rigid element being formed as a spigot for engagement in the socket of an adjacent element. The flexible elements may comprise a pipe 8, Fig. 3, formed of helically wound interlocking metal strip, surrounded by coverings 9, 10 respectively of metal braid and interwoven metal strip, or lacquered fabric containing embedded longitudinal wires. In a modified construction the braid 9 is surrounded by lacquered textile material over which is applied a wrapping of strip iron and an outer sheath of lacquered textile material. The ends of the conduit may be closed by caps 15, Fig. 2.
