463,024. Electrolytic surface treatment of magnesium and its alloys. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES. July 27, 1936, No. 20771. Convention date, July 27, 1935. [Class 41] Coatings' are produced on magnesium and magnesium-base alloys by anodic treatment in a molten bath containing a polyfluoride, i.e., an acid fluoride having more than one H.F. group in the molecule. The polyfluorides may be those of alkali metals or ammonium or of an amine or amide such as urea, acetamide, aniline, methylamine, ethylamine, diphenylamine or tetramethylammonium hydroxide. The bath may contain a neutral fluoride or a bifluoride in addition to the polyfluoride.
