Abstract
Polyazo dyes capable of being coppered on the fibre or in substance are made by coupling a diazo compound of an aminoazo dye, obtainable by coupling a diazo compound which contains an --OH group and a --COOH group in o-position to each other with a 1-naphthylamine-2-alkylether, with a compound of the formula <FORM:0460378/IV/1> in which Cy is the cyanuric residue, A is a substituted or non-substituted aminonaphthol residue, R is the residue of an amine containing an --OH group in o-position to a --COOH group and X is a halogen atom or any other residue connected with Cy by means of N, O or S. They dye cotton blue to green shades which when after-coppered undergo only little alteration in shade and are fast to washing and light. According to an example, the diazotized aminoazo dye 4-amino-1-phenol-2-carboxylic acid --> 1-amino-2-methoxynaphthalene-6-sulphonic acid is coupled in presence of pyridine with the ternary condensation product from cyanuric chloride, J acid, 4-amino-4<1>-oxyazobenzene-3<1>-carboxylic acid and aniline (green); H or K acid may be used instead of J acid. A table of dyestuff is given in which the following additional components are specified; starting component; 4 - amino - 4<1> - oxyazobenzene-3<1>-carboxylic acid; A, R or X in above formula; 4 - (4<1> -aminobenzoyl) amino - 1 - oxybenzene - 2 - carboxylic acid, 4<1> - amino - 5<1> - methoxy - 2<1>-methyl - 4 - oxyazobenzene - 3 - carboxylic acid, 2 - amino - 5 - naphthol - 7 - carboxylic acid, 4-aminophenol-2-carboxylic acid, aniline. Specifications 209,723, [Class 2 (iii)], and 300,987, [Class 2 (iii)], are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 includes in the table the dyestuff 6 - amino - 1 - phenol - 2 - carboxylic acid --> 1 - amino - 2 - methoxynaphthalene - 6 - sulphonic acid --> condensation product from cyanuric chloride, H acid, 4-amino-4<1>-oxyazobenzene-3-carboxylic acid and aniline. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
