Abstract

459,702. Valve gear. BURT, P., Hollybank, Silverwells Crescent, Bothwell, Lanarkshire. Aug. 1, 1936, No. 21371. [Class 7 (vi)] In engines operating with single sleeve valves, the valve-actuating means is attached to an intermediate point of the sleeve, and the lower end of the sleeve is guided by a neck 16 integral with the crank case. The neck 16 is jointed to the upper part of the cylinder along the plane of the axis of the valve shaft 8. The sleeve valve is actuated by a crank-pin 7 jointed to a ring 14. The actuating-means may be duplicated, a pair of cranks 7 being diametrically opposed.
