Abstract
459,577. Maturing beer. DIXON, B., Bryanstone, Hart Hill, Luton, Bedfordshire, April 9, 1936, No. 10476. [Class 14 (ii)] After fermentation, beer is racked into a tank freed from air and it is there matured, chilled, and carbonated by the injection of carbon dioxide. Hops may be first placed in the tank. A tank 2 which may contain hops is filled with beer by pipe 1. During maturing, it is vented once or twice a day and the contents stirred by means of the agitator 3. Chilling is effected by the brine coil 7 and carbonation through device 4. Another form of tank (not shown) is horizontally mounted and is fitted with a brine jacket. The tank may be transportable.
