Abstract
459,242. Acoustic horns and resonators. MIURA, H., 23, Tamachi, Hongo-ku, Tokio. Aug. 2, 1935, No. 21941. Convention date, Aug. 8, 1934. [Class 13] A horn for a soundreproducing instrument, such as a gramophone, incorporates a closed chamber 7 of curved crosssection positioned symmetrically at the centre of the outlet portion of the horn and set into resonance by the sound waves incident on it. As shown, the resonator chamber 7 has the surface F of greatest radius of curvature facing the direction of the incident soundwaves and its upper and lower curved surfaces in conjunction with the upper and lower walls 4 of the mouth of the horn divide the outlet into two passages. The resonator may be a double-walled structure and enclose an inner closed chamber N and the outlet of the horn may be a double-walled structure 4, 5. The cross-section of the closed airchamber 7 may be circular or elliptical. The sound-inlet tube 1<1> which is of considerable length, bifurcates and forms two passages 1, which terminate in mouth portions 2 adjacent the surface of the resonator 7.
