Abstract
458,515. Igniting-compositions; striking-surfaces. MARGOLIS, M., 6, Pump Court, London, and BIDDLE, J., 53, Grace- Dieu Road, Whitwick, Leicestershire. July 11, 1935, No. 19841. [Class 50] In a cigarette having an igniting tip as described in Specification 417,539, starch is added to the igniting composition. In a preferred form, the composition consists of potassium or other chlorate, a dried mucilage (e.g. gum acacia), starch, manganese dioxide, silica, and carbon ; and the cigarette is ignited by rubbing on a surface comprising red phosphorus, antimony trisulphide, a dried mucilage, and carbon. The Provisional Specification mentions the use of shellac instead of gum acacia.
