458,143. Hydraulic transmission of power. LAMMEREN, W. P. VAN, 45d, Veursche-weg, Voorschoten, Holland. Nov. 27, 1935, No. 32845. [Class 69 (ii)] In hydraulic power transmissions including an impeller, a driven vane wheel, and a reaction vane wheel, the drive may be reversed by causing the driven and reaction wheels to exchange functions. The shafts 18, 20 of the driven and reaction wheels 4, 5 have pinions 17, 19, and either may be connected to the driven shaft 2 by means of a slidable member 22 internally toothed at 23. For forward drive, the driven wheel 4 is connected to the driven shaft, and a brake 9 is applied to a ring 7, with which the wheel 5 has a one-way connection at 8. The wheel 5 is thereby prevented from rotating reversely, while being allowed forward rotation ; a spring 21 prevents it from overrunning the wheel 4. For reverse drive, the wheel 5 is connected to the driven shaft, and the wheel 4 is braked.
