Abstract

457,890. Heat - storing apparatus. RUNTE, E., 30, Neumunsterstrasse, Zurich, Switzerland. July 12, 1935, No. 19909. Convention date, July 12, 1934. [Class 64 (ii)] A vessel 4 contains a fusible salt 2 such as sodium nitrate and is provided with openended tubes 3, the upper outlets of which are controlled by an electromagnet 10 acting on valves 9<1>. A lid 5 contains heat. insulation 5<1> and carries tubes 6, 7 for a heating resistance or thermostat. The vessel 4 is surrounded by a casing 1 containing heat insulation such as magnesium oxide, and the whole apparatus is provided with an outer casing 8. When the space to be heated reaches the required temperature, a thermostat actuates a relay switch 11 controlling the electromagnet 10 to close the valves 9<1> and prevent circulation of warm air through the tubes 3. When the salt 2 reaches a predetermined temperature, a thermostat 7<1> actuates a relay switch 12 controlling the heating resistances.
