Abstract
457,287. Vaporizers for disinfectants and like liquids. BYROM, R. D., 2, Harrod Drive, Birkdale, Lancashire. June 27, 1935, Nos. 18365/35 and 8713/36. [Class 81 (i)] A vaporizer for liquid disinfectants, insecticides, medicines or the like, comprises an open topped receptacle 1, an absorbent structure or pad 4 mounted on a disc-like cap 5, wicks 3 depending into the liquid 2, and a perforated shield or skirt 6 depending from the cap 5 and slidably engaged in or over the receptacle 1 so as to be adjustable thereon. The cap 5 carries a wooden bobbin 11 formed with transverse passages 13 for the wicks 3 and closely wound with a length of wick 14. The ends of the bobbin are provided with square sheets 15 of metal having bent corners 16 to hold the wick 14 in place. In a modification, the container 1 and skirt 6 may be connected by screw-threads. According to the first Provisional Specification a wick may be held in a tubular support in the liquid container and may be adjustable by hand so as to project more or less therefrom, or may have a perforated shield sliding in or on said support. Both wick and perforated shield may be secured to the cap of the receptacle.
