Abstract

457,235. Endless belt conveyers. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP OLIEFABRIEKEN HET HART EN DE ZWAAN VOORHEEN A. HONIG, 410B, Westzijde, Zaandam, Holland. Jan. 7, 1936, No. 533. Convention date, Jan. 8, 1935. [Class 78 (i)] [See also Group XVII] A conveyer for oil cakes is provided with means for stripping the wrapping from the cakes, and with further means for discriminating between cakes which have been stripped and those on which the stripping device has failed to act, whereby stripped cakes are delivered to a trimming machine and unstripped cakes are either delivered to another position or such a cake automatically stops the conveyer or actuates an alarm signal. Three conveyers A, B, C, each comprising a chain or chains furnished with pushers, are arranged in line, each conveyer moving faster than its feeding conveyer so as to pick off the advancing cake. Between the two side chains 15 comprising the conveyer C are located two vertically movable tables 20, 21 and over the table 21 is disposed a transverse stripping roller 75 having radially projecting teeth. Each table 20, 21 is at its lowest position when a cake arrives thereon, but the table 21 then starts to rise and press the cake against the roller 75. The teeth engage the wrapping and wind it on the roller, the cake being by this action first forced forward, then lifted over the roller, and finally deposited again on the table 20, which has by this time risen to receive it and lessen its fall. The table 20 then falls and other pushers on the chains 15 pass the cake away under the roller 05. The teeth in the roller are automatically retracted, and a sleeve is passed over the roller to remove the wrapping and prepare the roller for further action. Should the roller fail to strip the cake, the latter passes on and may actuate either a conveyer stopping device or an alarm signal, these having operating members interposed into the path of the cakes at predetermined times. Alternatively, the unstripped cakes may pass on to a fixed table 57 which receives the stripped cakes, two parallel chain conveyers, moving in opposite directions, being disposed about this table. One conveyer 67 is timed to take the stripped cakes to a trimming machine and the other 58 to push the unstripped cakes in the opposite direction. All five conveyers, and the moving tables, are geared together by chains and pinions or by toothed wheels, and a set or sets of three pushers are provided on the chains 15 to determine the path the cake shall take. Figs. 1a and 1b show the details of the mechanism. The shaft 5 carries fixed pinions for the chains 1 of the conveyer A and a loose pinion for the single chain 10 of conveyer B. The shaft 5 carries a fixed pinion for the chain 10 of the conveyer B, and loose pinions for the chains 15 of the conveyer C. The chain 10 is kept taut by a jockey pinion 13. The table 20 is raised by cams 22, 23 on spindles 24, 25 geared together, the cams bearing against rolls 29, 30 on a beam 31 connected to the table by guide rods 32, 33. The table 21 is normally pressed up by adjustable springs 43, 44, geared circular cams 50, 51 each having a single depression being rotated to allow rolls 48, 49 to rise into these depressions and the table to lift. 80 is the power shaft.
